So, this is why I carry the $6.75/mo carrier insurance. In Florida on vacation and while getting out of the boat to have lunch Friday, Xs Max went splash into the Gulf! Yes, it’s a $199 deductible but had a new phone Saturday afternoon. I know AppleCare is now offering a loss and theft option as well. May be something to look into. I dropped an iPhone 7 into the lake at my house last year. Lost a shoe trying to find it in the muck. I think I’m going to invest in some of those waterproof floating bags lol

Good thing you had insurance! You can't get a phone that expensive without coverage lol

With my max I ordered the applecare loss and theft just in case.

However, in your case as you have established precedent, you need to attach an unbreakable tether to your iphones when you are near water...even a water fountain.:p

Just curious, when you dropped your Max into the ocean, did it just not immediately work or did it start to malfunction? Just curious what the side effects were.

Ok losing one phone is one thing but two years in a row? I’ve taken my phones in the ocean and boating and I’ve never lost it to the sea.

You probably weren't checking your Facebook while you were stepping in or out of a boat. I know my phone would be in my pocket during those times. ;) But that's just me...

Actually had it tucked into a big sun hat with my camera. Bent over to help someone out and it slipped right out of the hat. Was way too deep and murky to even try to get it. With the 7, I had it in my jacket pocket and reached over to get the boat cover and it slipped out. I’m pretty clumsy in general so insurance is always a good choice for me!
