phone is acting up when making calls

for the past 2 days, any time i tried to call my gf or mother...my phone connects after one sec then i hear nothing. im told that on the other side of the line, they are saying hello and hear nothing at all. both parties have verizon too...

i did a reset on the device and still is doing the same thing...

doubt its anything with the phone though, just AT&T or verizon service acting up


any suggestions...
