I'm connecting my iPhone 12 through a powered USB C hub, which is connected to my 2020 Mac Mini. Although the phone is charging, it's not recognized by the Mini and doesn't appear in the Finder window. Is this expected? I've tried a few different cords, so I don't think that's the problem. Does it matter which port I connect the hub to on the Mini?

Any suggestions?

Probably the hub is not providing enough power to all the ports. Especially when the mac is connected.

None of my iPhones have ever connected to my iMac via a USB hub. I've always had to plug a lightning cable directly into one of the iMac's USB ports for it to work.
