Phone not working when downgraded back to version 3.0.1

I use an iphone 3g and in upgraded to IOS 4 trhought itune but my phone was dead slow so yesterday when i started to restore it buy taking a back-up, after some time it restarted but after that only shows me itunes to usb connect symbol on the screen. my phone is not working.

Please help me what to do to get my phone working with my 3.1 version.

I too had this problem, found the answer by searching and fixed it. I would post the link, but I am on my iPad, not my pc where I have the info.

Please note that i have iphone 3g and my laptop is windows 7
