i have the AW3 cellular. I have been playing around with it a lot today, checking new settings, new abilities compared to my AW2. If I am out and want to use my watch’s cellular, should I put my phone in airplane mode so everything goes thru my watch? Is it harmful to do that? Silly question I know but just trying to work his whole new cellular watch out.

I’m not quite sure what you’re asking. If you are out and you have your phone with you then you should leave the phone connected to the watch as that will be much better for battery life on the watch. If you don’t have the phone with you then you should just leave the phone on wherever it is... there is no need to put it in airplane mode, and in fact it seems that with some carriers the phone needs to be on and connected to the cellular network in order to make calls and/or send text messages on the watch. The phone and watch don’t need to be in the same location or directly connected, but because of how the carriers are allowing the watch to use the same number as the phone the phone does need to be active.

If you just want to see the watch make a cellular connection and you have your phone with you then putting the phone in airplane mode while you’re away from known WiFi networks will force the watch to make a cellular connection, but for your regular day to day use just leave the phone on and connected as normal.
