so im in class today, i have no service on my phone. I have the phone in my sweatshirt pocket and i reach my hand in to take it out and notice that its burning up. I press the home button and see i lost about 12 percent battery.

this happened in about 20 mintes. any cases of this before?

this is a 4s

thats what i had assumed, because it only happened twice and in the same classroom

verizon. i did put in airplane mode and that seemed to fix the problem

I would take it in. That is completely out of spec. No reason for it at all. There is something wrong with your phone.

out of curiosity where are you located? The wife and I were out this evening in the Hagerstown area and my 4s went to "searching" for signal while her 4 has 5 bars of extended. I turned it off and on airplane mode and back but never got a signal. Finally turned it off and when I got home plugged it in and it finally grabbed a signal.

Yes ,I have the same problem. Apple has acknowledged a problem with battery life on the iPhone 4S and other devices running its new operating system.
