Phone signal query

Hello all from the UK,

I've had my fair share of android devices over the years and the phone data signal strength was always clear

It would display as follows;

G would be 2G
3G
E- Edge
H- HSPDA
H+ even better H

Anyway why is it on the iphone all we see is 3G and not the varying different types of data strength? Would be interesting to see exactly what speeds were getting when out and about away from wifi.

Because your average user dosnt understand what they all mean.

iPhones do show varying signal strength, you most likely are just always getting 3G.

I think it's something like this, at least for my phone, an iPhone 5
