I can see most of my iPhone texts on my MacBook Pro and choose to use either device depending what I am doing.
But I don't see all of the what am I missing

It has noting to do with your hardware. - Your settings for iMessage on the two devices are not correct. They have to be identical. Pay attention to where a conversation can start from.

On the Mac you activate the app and go to the help menu item in the top of the screen. Her you will find the complete user guide for setting up and using iMessage. It will be in our own language. Read that and check settings on both devices carefully.
