Picking up a new 11 Pro Max. Want to restore it from my existing 11 Pro Max. I was considering using the new iPhone to iPhone transfer, over the Lightning to USB 3 adapter (I won't be near my computer for a while, and a complete restore from iCloud takes literally days (due to the photos)). The one thing I'm wondering about, though, is the max transfer rate. The adapter says Lightning to USB3... but to connect it to my other phone, I'll need a USB to lightning cable. Are there USB to lightning cables that can transfer at USB3 speeds? Or is any cable I can get going to restrict me to USB2 speeds?

The Lightning port is limited to USB 2 speeds apparently.

Then how is there a Lightning to USB 3 adapter? From what I’m reading, the ports have been USB 3 capable for a few generations now.

I honestly don’t know. I’m just going by a video on YouTube that was reviewing the max pro and listing things as to why it could be classed as pro and why it can’t be classed as pro. It might have been a Jonathan Morrison video.

The Apple store told me about 1-2GB/min regardless of wired or wireless

I used their wire and it took about 90 minutes for 160GB.

How does phone to phone transfer work? I was able to transfer from old phone to new at Apple store in 15 minutes. Neither phones were connected to wifi Or each other.

I just put my phone next to the new one, they had attached the lightning to USB2 dongle to the old phone and then a regular usb/lightning connected to the new phone, when I powered the new one up for the first time it asked if I wanted to do a phone to phone transfer.

It transferred everything including all the apps, media, etc. Nothing needed to be redownloaded.

Yeah, I had 318GB and realized quickly I was going to be there for 3 hours ... so I just gave up and resorted to restoring from my iCloud backup.
