I am trying to transfer from my old iPhone 6 running iOS 14 to a new iPhone 12 mini.

The scanning of the nebula circle didn't work, so I pressed manual transfer. I then get a screen on the new phone saying "Enter Authentication Code . . . . " with a 6-digit number.

I entered this on my old phone and it is now displaying a screen saying "Finish on New iPhone . . . Keep this iPhone near your new iPhone while your information is transferring".

The new iPhone is still displaying the "Enter Authentication Code" screen.

They have both been like this for over half an hour.

Should I persist?

Any advice welcome.

Thank you.

iPhone 6 can only run iOS 12. Maybe its a iOS 12 issue.
If phone to phone transfer doesn’t work, there’s still 2 more options: Set up from an iCloud backup or Set up from a backup on the Mac (much faster)
