My wife’s phone, an iPhone 11 running latest iOS, seems to be using large chunks (250-800 MB worth) of cellular data at times when the phone is here at home and on WiFi, often times she’s not even awake. What I find interesting is that mostly, the cellular usage times per Verizon’s data logs are 01:00 – 01:30 and 13:00-13:30 (we are both working from home, so her phone is definitely on our WiFi though may be sleeping).
There are also some others, like nearly 400MB at 07:30 this past Saturday When I know we were still asleep and our phones were plugged into power.
WiFi Assist is turned ON on her phone, but shows only 95 MB used.
Background app refresh is also on, but again, phone is at home and should be on WiFi, unless I’ve misunderstood how iPhone works with WiFi when it’s sleeping for many years, which is possible.
Verizon is useless as expected and just tried to upsell me more data. The rep actually said “you can switch to unlimited and save money” when in fact they went on to quote me $40 /month MORE than what we are paying for 3 lines. You can’t make this stuff up.
Thanks for any suggestions here.
