Photo and video orientation

I've taken some photos and videos in portrait view and when i email them their orientation gets messed up. The people receive them sideways in landscape view. Is this a problem with my settings?
 
damn i just realized that a thread below deals with this exact subject matter. Could a mod pls merge or purge? Thanks!
