Photo app issue

I have an Early 2011 MBP with Yosemite 10.10.3 and I can not get my iphone to finish importing my photos on Photo 1.0 app. I start the process and it shows all of my photos importing but never finishes. I finally unplug my phone after an hour and then none of my photos show up in my Photos albums on my computer. Any ideas what is up?
