Photo App no longer offering spacebar "preview"?

In the photo app, when looking at thumbnails, if you pressed the space bar, it would maximize the photo or play a video. Now that function isn't working for me.
Is this a "feature" or is my app messed up?

I had glanced through the menus, but didn't pick up on that.

Now that, that is sorted, I wish I could change it back to the space bar.... *sigh*

Agreed -- space bar is easier and matches what we expect from Finder.

You can add your own shortcut to the Photos app in System Preferences > Keyboard.

Hold down the function key and press the spacebar (if that's what you want) to add two new shortcuts as per the picture.

spacebar open for videos in photos is back, in the latest OS beta... nice!

Just as you get used to the 'new' way of opening photos with the Return key, it is changed back! Really confused me for 30 seconds just now.
