I have tons of different hobbies and tons of different photos and would like to actually sort the actual photo into albums not just copy them to different albums. Once upon a jailbreak, photo+ did that.

I’m dangerously close to going to Samsung strictly because of this.

someone tell me there’s a solution

Everyone knows that the iOS Photos App sucks since forever.
To save your sanity, try to pretend that the Photos App "Library" is a catalog of every image and video on your iPhone arranged in chronological order. It's your master reference.
You can still make as many albums as you want and put a single image into more than one album, but the "Library" will always be there as the overlord keeping track of every image.

The problem with actually moving an image into an album to be shown only in that album is images get scattered everywhere and there's no overview of all of them.

The behaviour shown by the photos app is the same as aperture and iPhoto had as well and is based on the iTunes approach to managing your library ( my educated guess of course).

For that reason, a photo album is a collection of elements that exist in the library - just like a playlist is a list of songs in your music library.

I’m interested to see which alternate iOS app does this differently.
