Hi guys, i'm struggling with the settings of the picture in the 12 pro max.

i use the "high effiency" mode, and until i'm on the ohne it's ok.
When i download the picture from icloud i download the heic file.

Is this settings that use the heic format? is it better to choose "more compatible" or there's a loss of quality?

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Thanks

I always shoot in most compatible. Most compatible does not compress the image like heic, so in theory the quality should be better. That aside, i have not noticed any image quality difference between MC and HEIC.

.jpg is also a compressed format. heic supposedly gives better quality in a compressed reduced size. For best quality you would want to use the raw format when it is available.

Not sure I agree, most compatible seems to loose some colour...

If you've got a modern computer it will read HEIF. Old computers and apps don't know what it is. HEIF can give a better looking and smaller file than jpg but you'd need to compare two identical photos taken at the same time, side by side to see the difference (usually)
