Hi,

In the first public beta of IOS 16 I've used the photo cut out a lot, but in the 4th public beta it does not seem to work anymore on the iPhone XR and iPhone 11. It was very easy, just long press on a photo and you could drag it to messages or copy it. Now when I long press there is not happening anything.

Am I missing something like enable a setting for this?

I wish there was a setting to disable this - I don't like it at all and makes Live Photos more annoying to use

It's working for me. But others are reporting that it no longer works for them, so you're not alone.

iOS 16 is a beta and things don't always work right. That's a big part of the reason it's in beta. The best thing you can do is report the issue.

Yes, I will report it. But this has answered my question.
And indeed it's a beta, so no problems with that but now I'm sure that I didn't do anything wrong.

It's still working for me, however, I find that it doesn't seem to work with more... risqué photos?

Found this out on a..uhh.. friend's iPhone. Yeah. 😏

Worked on those photos 2 beta versions ago, but the last one and current beta, it's no longer working. Wonder if it's using the same data as messages is to prevent kids from receiving unsavory photos in messages..

Oh man, you’re right. Boobs quite literally disable the feature. Even tried on two nearly identical photos, one with and one without 🤣

It's a strange phenomenon, however, the same pictures work again if I were to access them in the Files app and crop. I don't quite understand the criteria as to what makes a photo able to be cropped or not.
While I can't crop a photo with boobs, my friend was able to do it successfully.

I just saved one of the pics to Files and I was able to lift the subject no problem. Crazy

And, yep, even the smallest crop (not cutting out the relevant parts) makes the subject liftable in the photos app too
