Still trying to figure this one out...... This is not new for 8.4. Had the issue since 8.0

Have a photo (jpeg) that is 1.6MB in size. Nice decent-res landscape. When I download it onto my iPad Mini, the iPad saves it as 841KB. The size of the photo is unchanged.
If I go to email it from the iPad, the email reports the size as 1.6MB but if you click to select the resolution, it reports it as original = 841kb.

The emailed photo is of poorer quality than the original.
This makes it a pain (pita) because I now have to send requests a link to the original vs. email direct from my iPad. Using the iPad in meetings is convenient and simpler. But not at the loss of quality.

What is iOS doing to photo's I download? Re-compressing under an Apple algorithm?
