I'm trying to decide what size iPad 2 to get at the end of the week. I have a sizable iPhoto library (25 GB) and would like to sync all of my photos to my iPad. I currently sync all my photos to my iPod and it downresses them quite a bit.

Do photos get downressed when sync'ed to an iPad? If so, can anyone attest to the ratio of saved space?

Thanks!

Yes they do, and if I'm not mistaken, they get resized same as on the iPhone: about 700KB. My iPhoto library is 4.5GB (~1200 3-4MB photos) and ends up being about 1.5GB on the iPhone.

Edit (March 14): Looked at masters folder within iPhoto library; it's 5.8GB. Synced to iPhone, still takes about 1.5GB, but on new iPad, it's 3.2GB. Seems they are compressed, but maybe not nearly as much as they are for the iPhone.
