Hi,

I'm hoping someone can recommend me software for the following usage.

I'm looking to edit photos by using Selective Colour. i.e, retaining colour in what would be a black and white photo.

I know Photoshop Elements and Aperture 2 are capable for this feature. However, I don't have the money to spend on such programs.

Does anyone know if there are any other programs out there that can offer the same feature? And also compatible with OSX Tiger.

I've heard of Gimp but I'm struggling to install the X11 program which is required.

Acorn is an image editor that you can use with Tiger and you can use it free. I think you must be looking for something that will let you erase part of a B/W image layer and expose the color layer underneath.
Acorn will do this easily.
