Dear All,

I am not a mac user but my mother in law is. She bought few months ago the new macbook air 13 inch, and previously owned an older version of macbook pro 15 inch. She uses her computer to edit pictures and says there is no grid or straighten option on the macbook air as she used to have this option on the macbook pro. Please advise if there is a way to have this option or maybe she doesn't know how to locate that option on her computer.

Awaiting all possible help, thanks
Murad

What photo edit app does she use? Photoshop elements, pixelmator and other full photo editing software can do the job. Look up Mac AppStore, should be some to choose from there.

she simply clicks on photo goes to edit whihc she was doing the same on her old macbook pro. She opens photos and clicks on edit, then she would click on straighten, and then chooses grid. Now she doesn't have straighten option on the menu. That is she needs help.

Thanks
Murad

Has her Air been updated to the most recent operation system?

Are there free apps she can download or she needs to buy and if so please give us recommendations
For paid apps, there is the rather pricy Photoshop elements,or the cheaper but more Mac adopted pixelmator, when it comes to free simple apps,it's usually most a question of experience or taste. There are many, among them google snapseed that has simple but functional tools for straightening images, and of course much else.

I'm guessing your mom is using the Photos app. It's the current app that comes standard on new Macs.

To get the grid for straighten crooked shots, you actually have to start adjusting before the grid shows up. See the attached screen shots.

If she's looking for the "rule of 3rds" grid to help crop and adjust, you have to start the crop before the grid shows up.

Both crop and straightening are under the "crop" tool.
