So this seems to have started when I put iOS 12 Beta on my iPad 10.5 pro. I shoot in RAW, import to the iPad, then add those images to Lightroom CC and delete them from photos. That is my normal workflow that I've been using for a year or so. I shoot with an A7R3, 5D4 and EOS M3/M6. Never had any trouble. About 1-2 months ago, whenever I import form one of my Canon cameras, the first image always gives an error and doesn't import. My current workaround that has been working is to leave 1 image on the card. Import and tell iOS to delete the imported photos. This way I always have the same single image at the beginning and the problem is avoided - but I shouldn't need to do this. I have tried various things to erase the SD cards and it still does it. Not sure why it only effects my Canon bodies and not my Sony body. That is the only other possibility is I swapped 1 card from the Sony to the Canon around the time this started as well.

Anyone else? The Google didn't find anyone else with this specific issue. Some having an issue where every 101st image doesn't import. I don't usually import over 100 at a time. Thanks for any tips!

Getting past the import RAW files to the limited hard drive space of the iPad which makes me cringe, at least you are deleting them after uploading to Lightroom CC. Please tell me you are also saving to an archival hard drive rather than being 100% dependent on Adobe and their cloud offering which can change on a whim. Now back to the question. It sounds like a software issue than a hardware issue. Sounds like you are not dragging and dropping which probably isn't possible with an iPad but using the proprietary apps developed by Sony and Canon. With every new IOS it may have altered coding that requires apps to be recoded which didn't impact Sony, this time, but appears to have impacted Canon. Seems Canon may need to update their App. With those apps typically provided outside the Apple Store, you may not receive notification that a new version is available. Check if the app has an update option and/or Canon's support page for an updated app.
