I'm looking for a photo management application for my mac that will embed keywords (tags) directly in the photo's metadata and that will allow me to maintain my own file structure, so I can easily share and sync with the other computers (windows) on my home network.
The two obvious contenders, iPhoto, and Picasa just don't cut it for me.
iPhoto doesn't write tags to the metadata, and doesn't automatically update its library if new photos are added to my pictures folder.
Picasa would almost be workable, but scrolling through 6000+ photos is so painful with the scroll bar. I could go on, but I find navigating a large folder/Album in Picasa is a miserable experience. One other thing Picasa doesn't do is allow you to display untagged photos only (so I can tag them!).
I've looked at many others but haven't really found anything. If you've ever used the Photo Gallery that comes with Windows Vista (and now part of Windows Live), THAT'S what I'm looking for...but on OS X.
