iPhone usage (general > about > photos) says 5k photos. Camera roll says 1500. iTunes says 5k. iTunes says photos are eating space. How can I get the numbers to match? Have deleted deleted photos. Have turned off iCloud backup. Have photo stream turned off. Looks like lots of people have this issue but no one has a solution. Even went to Apple and they updated the firmware and wiped the phone clean. Did a restore from iCloud as well. Any ideas where the pictures are stored on my phone or how space can be reclaimed?

If this needs to be in the iPhone forum instead, admins please move it.

Just so the answer is out there: setting the date some time far enough in the past makes the recently deleted photos repopulate so they can be deleted.
