So it's December again, and the near year is coming soon. I've seen some other forums doing things like this, so I figured I'd start a thread here. Post your best photo from this past year (or any one you want to share) here.

Ok, I will start.
One of my favourite from the last year is one I took a few days ago. I like it not only because it's of my girlfriend but also because I like the colours and find something compelling about it.

Always tough to single out one picture ...

so far, this has to be one of my favorites !
I hope you will like it too.

Ok, this is a bit weird but this is probably my best shot this year.. not because it is sharp but because it is weird. Apparently it is not too often that you can see a grasshopper cleaning itself.. especially when it is sitting on my TV table in my living room. It had no problem me setting up my camera and getting really close....
Entered it inset a photo contest and actually won too :)

oh well..

Great idea for a thread! I would recommend you add the year 2011 to the title to keep things clear for posterity.

I'm dashing off to another continent right now, but I'll give it some thought and will post one myself when I reach the other side...:)

Oh, and TheDrift-, that photo is outrageously good! It's wowing me for a second time. Awesome!

Not surprising it won, that's a nice photo! I've never seen any insect in that position either, definitely a nice one.

tough to choose just one but....

Yeah, that's what I like about this idea. You have to look through all your photos and pick one that you like best. Also, nice photo! You certainly did a good job picking (and taking!) a great photo.

I just realized I forgot to post mine, so here it is:

This is a pretty tough choice because I've taken quite a few pictures I've liked just over the past couple of months. Still, I think I have to go with this one of my younger daughter drawing while at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI. I knew it was good the moment I took it.

Is this a competition or just posting?

Love this one...

I love being outside photographing nature, and just the fact that i was able to capture this rare bird ( for me anyway) and being so close, makes this my favorite of this past year :)

There's no competition, it's just posting the photos you like, and others can comment.

Definitely my favorite of the year.

I like those star trail photos, and this is a nice one! I've taken a few, but the foreground is always boring.

Very dynamic picture. Love the colors

Love the late day sun and boat in this one.

Loved this one the second you originally posted it. Definite Uber-Keeper category! The colors and the connection between her drawing and the writing on the wallpaper-perfect IMHO, FWIW.

Juxtaposition of cultures. Street photography is definitely your niche. I look forward to more of the same in 2012.

Definitely my favorite of the year.

Rowbear, you've taken some amazing animal photos and shared them with all of us. The wolf staring me down was my favorite, but I can see why this was yours.

OK, Like the rest of you I am anxiously awaiting Ms. P's favorite. I have no clue how she will pick hers. I am also awaiting Doylem's and Desinger Dave's (my vote is for the sewer cover macro).
So I forced myself to look through mine and so I chose this one of the Manhattan Bridge from the Brooklyn side. I just liked the way it came out:

My favourite would have to be this pelican:
The fading sun peaked out from behind the clouds for about 20 seconds, enough time for me to capture this, before setting over the mountains.

Summer to Winter [Framed]

I love this shot only because of how haphazard it was in creating, the snow is just a snap shot from earlier in the year when we had a freak snow storm, trying to get the "framed" shot to literally frame up was an absolute nightmare, but managed to get it in the first attempt which I was quite proud of :)

Definitely my favorite of the year.

Phenomenal, truly, phenomenal.
