What are the strange lines in the bottom right corner of this picture?

Hint: It isn't what you think it is.

Please excuse the poor exposure. This was simply a test shot for composition. The ISO was pushed to the max so I could quickly set the framing. (28mm, ISO 25,600, f 2.8, 4 sec)

It looks like some kind of flying bird/insect? but seeing as you said its not what i think it is...i'd have no idea?

OK, I obviously don't know what you think it is. ;)

I can't see anything but a centipede. When the image was displayed on the back of the camera I jump a little.

You guys are much better at this than I am. It was actually a bat. It seems that the modulation on the LED light and with the ISO turned up so high it gave a strobe effect to the wings.

It is a poor photo but a neat capture. :)

That is a neat capture, with the rocky landscape and stary sky it looks like this shot was taken on another planet... one with flying centipedes :D

Haha, that sounds like a good B-movie. "Planet of the Giant Flying Centipedes"

I don't think it's a centipede. Considering this was a long exposure shot, it was probably just some random flying bug fluttering by the camera lens.

You are correct. As I said above it was a bat. I just liked the idea of a movie about space centipedes. :D

cool image...I was thinking a dragonfly or some fluttering thing...anyway, found out reading on, so cool.

Fun thread. I have a soft spot for "photo puzzles."

I posted a thread about a year ago with some photos of common objects taken out of context (usually macro).

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1376605/

I let the thread die and didn't really follow up. While I focused on macro in the thread, would be interesting to see images from varied shooting conditions of subjects that aren't immediately identifiable.

Could be a the topic for an interesting thread....

I joined after that one and missed it altogether. You've got to resurrect that one. It was a great read. :)
