Photo scanning workflow

Greetings! I want to simplify the current workflow of scanning a photo into iPhoto (OSX Leopard on iMac, HP 6510 scanner+printer connected via USB).

Currently:
  1. Start HP Scan 3
  2. Scan photo in HP Scan 3
  3. Crop photo in HP Scan 3
  4. Save photo in HP Scan 3
  5. Start iPhoto
  6. Import into iPhoto library
  7. Copy/Move photo in iPhoto Album
Is there a program that can scan, crop & dump into iPhoto album? Alternatively I can move off of iPhoto if the workflow can be simplified and even lead to efficient scanning.
