iPod touch Photo Transfer

I am trying to transfer photos from an iPod to a Mac and only the folder named "Camera Roll" will transfer. The other folders are not recognized. What am I doing wrong?

If the photos are in folders that were put there from iTunes then you can't. It's only photos that are stored in camera roll that will transfer over. This is normal

I think that may be the case. However, when I tried the demo for iExplorer it recognized all the albums, but they want $35 for the license. There's got to be a way do it since it is an Apple transfer to another Apple product!

In addition, those folders, which were put there by itunes, contain lesser quality photos that are of reduced resolution.
