I reset my 11" iPad Pro today and re-enabled iMessage in iCloud. The messages are now probably all downloaded but not all of the thumbnail previews have been downloaded. Some can be available in the same message thread which has others missing.
I attach an example screen shot. Tapping on the image does nothing and a long press crashes iMessage.
I've just noticed that this also applies to my untouched XS Max. I'd not noticed an issue with this before. I'm sure that they were all good.
This isn't an MMS issue. It applies to iMessages between Apple users.
YouTube is installed.
There were no issues before the reset.
I still see all of the previews on my MBP. All have the latest OS updates.
Any ideas please ?
