photoanalysisd process is running crazy, heating up/lagging the system

i assume its the process thats running in the background thats going through my photo album. but its been using 40-50% of my CPU time and causing the computer to lag bad and beachball a lot. how long until this thing is done doing its thing? is there a way to make it stop so the computer is more usable? anyone else on a macOS update deal with this already? should I just let it finish its process?

edit: opened photos and saw where it said its about halfway through the scan. i assume theres no way to abort it, as i could care less if it finds people or not.
