So, I am trying to make a recording in photobooth. The problem is that it says that it records as long as i want it to, but it only captures 10-20 seconds, and then the rest disapears. Anything?

Why don't you record the footage in iMovie? This should fix your time issue.

After launch, look below the film window (which should be black). Find the first two icons on the left - click the one that looks like a film cell. Next two icons to the right, click on the one that looks like a movie camera. A menu will appear that asks if you want to film with built-in iSight camera. Click it, and you're off to the races. When you stop each clip, they will be in a frame on the right-hand side of the screen, you can drag and drop them to the bottom to edit (switching the icons back to the clock and scissors).
