Hello just recently got my MBP and it comes pre-installed with photobooth, and my friend with an older mac mini and an isight really wants to play with it on his comp. I looked around and its not part of any software package that you can buy, and i cant find any place you can download it? how can he get it? is it possible for me to send it to him?

That would be illegal, so I doubt anyone on this site will give you any instructions. Since the site may be held responsible.

hah thanks guys, i mean if you think about it, if you cant buy it anywhere, i dont see why anyone would have that big of a problem with it?

But you can buy it. There are varying editions, but you get either a free iMac, MBP, or mini with it. Until Apple chooses to distribute it for the non-cyclopses in their lineup, someone will have to make a clone....

does anyone ever think that apple had to switch from bluetooth to IR at the very last minute? i mean, bluetooth apple remotes would offer far more flexibility for the future. it's quite an old technology.

there is a way to look at this from a business perspective though, and that apple want to make money......things that require the IR facility will create a drive for sales, and introducing accross the line would kill them off.

interesting.

Speaking of Bluetooth...

I wish Apple would release the IR remote control for all macs, with a seperate little USB IR reader thing that would just plug in like the D link bluetooth adapter.

I would love to be able to control iTunes from the couch, how hard could it be to make something like that...?

anyway, sorry to thread hijack.

photobooth rules.

They should incorporate an IR sensor into the existing iSight and ship it all with Photobooth and FrontRow. If that was the case, I could justify spending friggin $200CAD on an iSight.

I dont know if this only works on MBPs and Core Duo Imacs, but if you go to the apple website under downloads you can download front row and photobooth (or at least updates).

Apple Wants Money

I think they should let you download the Photobooth and front row, to try it out so that you'll buy the $1,999 app and get a free MBP.

P.S.- Bluetooth is a power hungry monster when it comes to mobile devices and the ir is less power hungry and only uses power when when you hit a button.
