i can't find out how to determine if a particular photo is in my Photos app.

Reason I'd like this is that if I come across a bunch of photos, say on an old SD card, or a forgotten folder, and I'm unsure if I ever imported them into Photos, there appears to be no way to search inside Photos using the file name. A Spotlight search won't show files that are within the structure of the Photos app, unlike iPhoto.

Is this just something that cannot be done, or is there a setting I've missed to enable searches inside Photos? A Google seems to indicate people can find it this way, but it's not working for me.

I'm on latest El Capitan.

TIA

I just tried searching on a filename using the Search box in the upper right corner of the Photos window. It worked beautifully.

I suggest you confirm that Search works by doing a Get Info (within Photos) of an image that is displayed in Photos, and Search on that filename.
