I am having trouble understanding how I am supposed to get my referenced library from Aperture on to iCloud Photo Library though the new photos app.
I exported a year of photos from Aperture as a library for a test. (the library is referenced) I then opened this library in Photos. It linked up to the files on the external HD correctly. I then checked the size of the new photos library. It is 5.4GB while the exported library from Aperture is only 1.8GB. How is that even possible?
The 1st problem is the library size. Has anyone else seen this issue?
The 2nd issue is that in order to use iCloud photo library - you have to consolidate all referenced files into the photos library. This means will will need to copy all of your external links back into the main library file. My Macbook Pro does not even have enough HD space to support my entire library. Thats why I use referenced files in the first place. It seems my only option here would be to keep the entire library file on an external drive. Does that seem feasible?
Anyone else with similar issues? Thanks!
