I'm still a little confused about the difference between "optimize Mac Storage" vs "download originals to Mac".
I had my old iPhoto library on an external drive that had more than enough room for my 400MB library.
I have selected Optimize Mac Storage. This option says "Originals will also be stored on this Mac if you have enough storage space"
My Photos library appears to be pretty much the same as my iPhoto library in size. So it seems like they are there.
I guess my question is, as long as I have room, will the "optimize mac storage" option have the original copies on my hard drive? i.e. if I was ever offline could I access them?
