Photos Favorites

I sync my photos from my Mac to the iPhone via iTunes. These are photos that I took from my DSLR. I have several albums depending on subjects/locations, unfortunately I can only choose one for the watch photo complications.
Is there way to favorited those synced from Mac pictures so I can use them in the watch complications photo albums?
It looks like I can only do select favorites of photos that I took in the phone but not the synced ones from the Mac.

If you are using iCloud photos your favorites should be the same on all devices. check the photo storage limit in the Apple Watch app on your iPhone (My Watch>photos). Perhaps that's why some pictures are missing.
