Im trying to crop high res wallpaper photos in the Photo app and every time I tap save, the photo is distorted and pixelated. Even if I go back and try to revert to original, the photo remains distorted.

Does anyone know a solution or experienced the same issue? I have tried using the iPhoto app to crop the pictures but iPhoto does not update the crop edits in the original album.

I tried editing the photo with iPhoto and saving the edited version to camera roll. I opened camera roll in the photos app and the edited photo displays pixelated.

What size is the original image? Even if you crop 1080p wallpapers, the wallpapers will be pixelated on the iPad since the resolution is beyond 1080p. You'll need wallpaper that has at least 2048px vertical resolution or start using vertex images so you can scale up.

Originals are 2048x2048.

I'm trying to crop so they fit correctly in the picture frame feature.

Seems to be an issue with iPhoto that is causing it as per feedback comments. Try cropping in a free app to see if the issue persists. Apple's lack of QA and attention to detail is starting to increase.

I have encountered the same problem- its not just pixelated, it's de-interlaced. This is a big problem because it cannot be reverted.

Same thing happens to me with really high resolution pics. You have to zoom pinch slightly and wait a second, then it will display properly.

Was not able to work for me.

I'm going to try contacting apple care this afternoon

Just got off the phone with Apple.
The issue is something new that they haven't heard of, and is going to be forwarded to Apples engineering unit.

I believe it's an error in the coding for the photos app in relation to the new iPad screen resolution. Since the photos app is one that is included within the iOS software, I'm hoping a fix for this issue will make its way into a 5.1.1 update
