iPhone Photos gone after update

I recently updated from iOS 13.2.2 to iOS 13.2.3 via the over the air method and have realised that basically 1000 photos have gone from my phone.

Is this normal? It doesn’t seem like normal behaviour. I keep plenty of backups so I’m not overly worried, it’s just weird an update would delete photos like that.

You might see them show up sooner or later, I just did a clean install and setup as new of iOS 13.2.3 and my photos have been showing up over the last couple hours
