Photos help - deleting pictures

Hi all,
Just got my first Mac so new to OSX and looking for some help with photos.

Ive copied all my picture folders over to the mac and I've imported those folders into the Photos app. All is working great but now I am tidying up those pictures in the Photos app. When I delete pictures from within Photos it isn't deleting from the source folder on the mac hard drive.

I have Photos set to not copy photos to the library.

Is it possible that the Photos app can delete from the source folder when i delete within the app?

No... not with that option selected like you have.

Your pictures in Photos(ie the Thumbnails) are just links to your pictures in the Folders in Finder. When you delete a picture in Photos, you are just deleting the link.
