I have photos and videos of a friend of mine's daughter's births party. I'd like to assemble them into a slideshow and add some cool music. Does Photos or iMovie have such music?

You can add music directly from your iTunes library. There is no music in the apps that you can just add, only sound affects and that is only in iMovie I believe. Your music would have to come from your iTunes library. Songs are cheap to add to iTunes for a simple project such as yours.
