Photos in Preview

Scanned a diagram to the mac and I set it to go to the desktop. I tried to add it as an attachment in an email and it failed. Can I bypass preview or is there another option.

First i think this post should be elsewhere, anyway when I scan something on my mac I usually go to file in the scanning program > select move to > than desktop. Than i open mail and drag the scanned image file i moved to the desktop to the email and it automatically recognises itself as an attachment. Hope this helps.

Must you do this every time you scan?

Gmail. I tried to attach it from the desktop but it failed.

OK. I'm not a Gmail user. Hopefully someone will be along with a solution.
