I noticed my two year old iMac was getting a lot of beachballs when I tried to click or gesture w/ my trackpad. After a lot of trial and error w/ HD and permission repairing, cache cleaning, uninstalling Flash, etc. I finally figured it out: Photos!

Anyone else have this problem? Its driving me nuts. If I quit Photos the iMac runs fine. Launch it and its sluggish system-wide with incessant beach ball action. Never had this problem with iPhotos. Is there a fix for this? I use Lightroom for my RAW "photographs," but iPhotos for my JPEG snapshots. I hate to commingle the two but I can deal with this anymore.

i find the exact opposite. photos has improved my performance (over iPhoto).
