I wasn't sure if this belonged in the MacOS forum, the Mac Apps forum, or the iCloud forum. So I guess I'll post it here. Like most people, I have a photo collection of several thousand photos. Recently, using the Photos app, I completed a massive project, classifying all my photos with keywords, sorted by family tree, decade, events and so on. I have created a number of smart albums based upon keywords.

Now, these smart albums do not appear in iCloud Photos, or on my iPhone, which got me thinking, all these keywords I added, they probably aren't propagating up to the cloud either. Is this correct? And if so, how can I fix this? I'd like these keywords and the keyword based albums sent up to the cloud if possible. Would I have to delete everything from iCloud and re-upload it all? I don't even know how to do that. But iCloud Photos is one of two backup systems I use, so I would like the photos there to have the keywords. Also, is it possible to send up smart albums? Or do I just need to re-create those albums manually on iCloud.com? How about my iPhone? Thanks.

Huh. I just checked and my Smart Albums show on my Mac but do not show up on my iPad or iPhone. New smart albums don't show up either, while new "regular" albums show up right away. Boooo!

You have a good question about whether the keywords are stored in iCloud or not...
