photos Mac mini - I cannot delete any of them

Hello I have a lotto photos on my Mac mini - M1 - I can't delete any photos from the photo's app.

If I select one or more - its the same - Press delete I get a sound and and none are deleted..... or if I drag and drop nothing happens.

Please suggest. I have a lot junk I really need to clean up....

also would you suggest a good way to get rid of duplicates?
