Hi,

I've recently moved my photos app library to my external HD based on the size of it and I have a rMBP with 250GB of storage. I think I'm right in saying this, but wanted another opinion!

Am I right in thinking you cannot have your photos library as part of the iCloud 'all your photos on all your devices' if your library is on an external HD? Surely as long as the library is up to date, it doesn't matter wether its on your original HD or an external one?

Thanks

It will be fine wether you use it on your internal HDD or external, as long as you have selected your library to be saved to your iCloud in photos preferences, where you can also see the progress of your photos uploading to icloud.

it takes ages for them to upload though! and you would have to keep your external HDD attached until the progress has stopped in photos preferences.
