Photos or iPhoto ?

Dear Techsters, Have any of you preference for one or the other of these 2-avaliable (on my iMac) Photo programs? and why you like. Thanks. Im more interested in 'cataloguing' or making ;albums' than in editing. thanks again. Chrisman9

Photos is the future, so just go with that. iPhoto has been abandoned by Apple and will not get further updates. I suspect it is only a matter of time before a macOS update breaks iPhoto compatibility.

It sounds like your needs are not great and Photo would work fine for you.

Be aware that converting an iPhotos library to Photos is not without troubles. When I did it the video timestamps were dropped and all tagged faces are unconverted.
