Photos slow to open on 8.0.2 on iPhone 6?

Anyone else experiencing that the photos app is slow to open on 8.0.2? It takes 15-20 seconds to open. After it opens then speed is fine. I am using an iPhone 6 and am still on photo stream (I have not turned on iCloud Photo Library). I have about 9000 photos.

Any ideas on how to speed up?

A lot of pictures + really buggy iOS 8 = not a good combination

You'll have to wait for a fix in the future. It'll get better, hopefully.
