hi "Photos" tab is missing from my Photos app in macOS Catalina, do you guys have an idea what causes this problem?

I have the same problem. Nothing so far I tried worked. Even reinstalling Catalina.

I have the same issue after doing a clean install of Catalina. It also upgraded my old library, but hasn't synced it to iCloud Photos like it did has in past upgrades. It just says "Updating..." but does nothing.

Yes the problem is until now no one had a solution so we just wait and see, thank you for your comments, I hope our problem will be solved soon

Same here. Amazing this bug not only isn't fixed but happened in the first place, App's with parts of their view disappearing? btw, it's the year 2019.

Hi,
There is a way around this issue, right-click on a picture and choose the second line in the menu, it should be "Afficher dans Toutes les photos" in French.

Realizing this is an older thread, just wondering if any of the affected Macs are using customized video drivers (a la from DOSDUDE1). I have two identical MacBook Pros of the same model (MacBookPro8,2). The MBP running natively supported High Sierra properly shows the 'Photos' tab in Photos.app. The MBP running Catalina via the customized drivers does not.

I think you may be onto something. I have the same problem, using my 2015 MBP and Catalina Patcher.
