I've noticed over the past few weeks that it's taking a lot longer to delete photos from my library. I hit delete, confirm, then I have to wait 3-5 seconds for the photo to delete. In the past I'd hit delete, then confirm, then it was gone nearly instantly.
I'd worry that it's a problem with my library, but it's happening on both my laptop and desktop. So I'm not sure that's the cause. Although I do use iCloud to keep things in sync, so it's possible I guess. I'd run the repair option just in case, but I read that it will re-sync with iCloud and I'd like to avoid that unless I absolutely must.
Also, it's not something that has gradually gotten worse. One day it was fine, the next it wasn't. I don't have an exact time frame since I don't do this daily, but I can say for sure that it began in the past 2-3 weeks.
My laptop is a 2014 and the desktop is 2017. My photo library is at around 31,000 photos. I'm using iCloud Photo Library and iCloud Photo Sharing, but those have been turned on forever.
There was one major change in the past month that I can recall. I was fooling around one day and accidentally turned off iCloud Photo Library. When I turned it back on, it re-synced my entire library with the Cloud. I'm almost certain I had no issues deleting photos after that, but I supposed it's possible that's when all this started.
One last change. A few weeks ago I lost my iPad Pro in a fire. Could it be that I ought to remove that device from my account? I can't imagine it's related, but the time frame fits.
