is there any way i can change the location of where my photos go when i import them. they go to my hdd now, but i would like for them to go to my external hdd when i import them instead me having to manually put them in there every time i need to. is this possible, i couldn't find a way to change it.

in iPhoto? sure! make sure iPhoto is closed then go to your pictures folder and move the iPhoto Library to your external drive by clicking and dragging while holding "command". then open iPhoto while holding "option" and choose the library on your external.

Sure,I presume you mean when you first import them from the memory card? use Image capture, just choose the location where you want to down load your images, saves dragging them manually :)

thanks guys that worked. i just wanted to save my precious hdd space by moving and having all my photos from iphoto placed directly onto my external drive.
